Moving Forward

Hello and welcome back to my blog! If you are new here, I am glad to have you! Today’s topic regards moving forward with my professional and personal brand and the question lies on how I plan on doing so. In order to improve my social media profile and personal and professional brand I need some tools that will help me achieve these goals. Moving forward I plan on continuing using Hootsuite as a means of integrating my social networks and monitoring all my platforms to achieve a well constructed organization of activity going on in all of these. Blogging is also a great tool that has allowed me to put myself out there and express myself through writing and images I identify myself with. This has furthermore expanded my reach and audience, things that have undoubtedly allowed me to further on build upon my personal and professional brand. Little by little blogging has allowed me to share my thoughts and interests, and get connected with those who have similar ideas and even people who like mine! Additionally, another tool I have found to be very effective in improving my personal brand is that of LinkedIn, a website that has allowed me to network with people and has kept me updated on opportunities happening around me. All this and much more will allow me to keep on growing on both a personal and a professional level as I put myself out there on the social media world and gradually construct my own social network of individuals that are interested on the same personal and professional aspects of life as I am. I have definitely learned a great deal through this exercise because it has evidently, opened new doors for me that I never new existed! It has allowed me to set a platform for myself online and to see the beginnings of what will be a long journey of professional and personal growth both online and offline. It has also allowed me to realize and see the great amount of opportunities that are out there and more importantly, the connections that one can build and establish through these tools and these social media platforms. Thank you for being here with me through this journey and I hope you enjoyed it every step of the way!

Milestone Career Timeline

Hello and welcome back to my personal blog! If you are a new reader, I am glad to have you here as well! Today’s topic concerns my personal milestone career timeline. In order for you all to understand how and why I am where I am today, I’d like to take you back in time to some of the most important moments of my personal and professional life. First off, before graduating from the American Nicaraguan School in 2018, amongst the colleges I applied, I was successfully able to get into both St.Edward’s University Honors Program and Business school here at Austin, Texas and Northeastern’s Business School at Boston, Massachussets. Both, were options that opened great doors for me personally and professionally and my decision was going to be critical for my future. When it came to making a decision I opted for St.Edward’s University, and did so not only because the University had so much to personally offer me but the city (Austin) and its people had so much to offer me as well! Upon my entrance into St.Edward’s University’s program I was officially admitted as a Freshman in the Honors Program and was later inducted for the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. Within those months I was also asked to be one of the University’s Hometown Ambassadors, meaning I would represent the University at my Hometown, Nicaragua. A year later, I was given the job position of Global Ambassador at St.Edward’s, meaning I represented the University not only for students at my Hometown, but for other international students all over the world as well. As a current Sophomore in college, I look forward to internships, jobs and even more extra-curricular activities both the University and Austin has to offer! I am definitely looking forward to expanding my professional circle of experiences but for the moment, those are a couple of important personal and professional milestones I have been able to acquire through the last couple of years. I hope you got the chance to know me quite some more after today’s blog and I am looking forward to writing more in the future! Thank you for being here and don’t forget to suscribe for the upcoming blogs to come!

Austin Real Estate Market

Norada: Real Estate Investments, poses the question, is the Austin Housing Market for 2020, the best place for investment? According to the article, it indeed is. Why? Well, the Austin housing market 2020 is shaping up to continue the same growing trend it has established since a few years back as one of the hottest markets in the nation. Median home prices continue to increase, home sales continue to increase and long-term real estate investments in the capital of Texas continue to increase. Additionally, Austin is currently a seller’s real estate market- which means that the demand from buyers is currently greater than the supply of homes available for sale, according to the latest real estate data released.

Now, what is the cost of living in Austin, Texas the capital of live music, free thinking and free spirits, as expressed by the article? Aside from high housing prices, the cost of living in Austin is relatively affordable and reasonable. It is currently at 3% below the national average cost of living, making it an economical choice for new-comers. Additionally, housing is 15% below the national average and grocery costs stand 11% below it, a few of the many things one could mention.  According to the article, amongst the top 10 areas with the lowest cost of living in Austin there is: Redwood, Texas, Lockhard, Texas, Martindale, Texas, Uhland Texas, Taylor, Texas and more.

So, why is Austin a good place to invest in Real Estate? The article gives 10 reasons why, let’s explore some of the most relevant ones. First off, one of the most positive things going on in Austin is the massive student population willing to rent properties for a premium if they are in easy commuting distance from universities such as UT Austin, St.Edward’s University, The Austin Community College and more. Second, Austin is the Silicon Prairie, also nicknamed the Silicon Hills because of the high amount of high tech employers it has attracted. This has resulted in an active upscale in Austin real estate market. Third, quality of life. One of the factors driving the Austin real estate market is the well documented quality life the city provides. In 2017 it was ranked first as for quality of life the city has to offer by the US News World Report. Fourth, Austin has an excellent tax environment. Although Texas’ property taxes are high, this is offset by the lack of a state income tax, according to the article. There is a low state and local tax burden for investors, something that undeniably makes it a great place to buy a home and rent it out, for instance. Fifth and final one for the blog, Austin has affordable real estate. As said before homes in Austin are cheaper than the national average, cheaper than housing in places such as California or New York.

In conclusion, with Austin becoming more diverse by the minute there are plenty of opportunities investors could and should take advantage of when it comes to investing on the city.

Austin clearly is a leader across the country with jobs, quality of life, housing and more, what is stopping you from investing? Thank you for reading my new blog and I encourage you to subscribe to keep on reading about a diverse range of informative and interesting topics!

Personal Branding

Hello all and welcome to my first blog! My name is Paulina Amador, I am a 20 year old girl from Managua, Nicaragua and I am currently a Sophomore at St.Edward’s University majoring in Finance and minoring in Social Media Marketing. I am excited to be able to share a little bit about myself with you guys through my first blog and welcome any feedback, questions or simple comments you may want to give me while we embark on this new journey together! For starters, I would like to say, that in order for you to start and get to know me on both a personal level but most specifically, a professional one, I would like to begin with personality characteristics of mine that I consider define me very well. This will hopefully start giving you a beginning clear picture of who I am and the characteristics I pose under the professional realm of my life. First off, I consider myself as a dedicated individual who wants to give her heart out 150% on everything she does. I strive to be dedicated with everything I do and give forth the best of me in order for anything to be achieved with sincere passion and effort. Having said this, I also consider myself to be a high achiever, meaning I don’t only do what is asked from me, but more. I am not always satisfied with “just enough” rather, I consider myself to be an individual who goes above and beyond and takes that extra step that although not needed, ends up making a whole lot of a difference. On the other hand I consider myself to be an extrovert, a leader and a great contributor when working amongst people. I love talking to people, building social relations and believe that having a great social network is one of the many keys to success. Given this, I love being around other individuals and have a passion for taking the reigns of leadership whenever needed, this meaning I am not only taking upon the responsibility of leading but of also being a contributor of and with others and always being an open ear to new ideas and ways of thinking as well, all qualities I believe are necessary to be a great leader. Additionally, I am confident in what I do and greatly believe in the power I have to bring upon change with others and through others. I believe in what I do and have a passion towards it, all which aims to my confidence. Finally, I consider myself to be very consistent. Consistency is one of the many keys to success because even in the hardest moments, you need to keep on going and showing the strength you have within to achieve whatever goal you have been put forth. Now, when it comes to life experiences I’ve had that have aid into my growth as a young professional on the rise, are: Internships at Discover Real Estate and INVERCASA, two great powerful companies in my hometown, Managua, Nicaragua, that have taught me a great variety of things that have to do with real estate and the stock market. Additionally, I am a Hometown and Global Ambassador at St.Edward’s University, both jobs that have allowed me to connect with a great amount of individuals from not only Nicaragua, but all of Central America, acting as a recruiter for them to become a part of our St.Edward’s family. Finally, I would like to propose some personality characteristics that I consider make me stand out and distinguish myself from perhaps others on the field. I consider myself to be an adaptable, assertive, open-minded and disciplined individual who is ready to take on any new challenge when needed. Adaptability to new ideas, new environments, new individuals is optimal for success because the world is changing by the minute everyday! Additionally, being assertive while having an open mind for change is critical in times of crisis for example, when a decisive change in perspective makes the world of a difference. Finally, being disciplined both during challenges or not, is one of the characteristics that distinguishes me from others, and one that is needed to achieve anything great in life. Having said all this, I hope that through this blog you got to know me at least for starters on who I am and the characteristics I pose under the professional realm of my life. I look forward to sharing many new things to come with each and every one of you. Thank you for reading!

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
